Penelope Papandropoulos is currently head of the Data analysis and technology unit of DG comp. Previously, she was a member of the cabinet of Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, Margrethe Vestager working on digital, energy, transport and media files in antitrust and mergers, as well as the Digital Markets Act. She also worked as the state aid coordinator at the Chief Economist team of DG COMP and as an economist on merger and antitrust cases. In 2014, she worked in the cabinet of Competition Commissioner Joaquín Almunia, focusing on energy, transport, media and digital files. Prior to joining the Commission, she worked in the private sector as an economic consultant. In 2018-2019, she was the President of the Association of Competition Economists (ACE). She holds a PhD in economics from the University Libre de Bruxelles.
