President of the AdC, Margarida Matos Rosa, appointed new ICN Vice Chair for Growth and Recovery
Press Release 04/2022
April 4, 2022
The ICN Steering Group confirmed Margarida Matos Rosa, President of the AdC – Portuguese Competition Authority, as new Vice Chair for Growth and Recovery, on March, 30, 2022.
Margarida Matos Rosa has been actively engaged with the ICN since becoming President of the AdC in 2016. As ICN Vice Chair, Margarida Matos Rosa will focus her work on promoting the discussion of competition principles in the context of economic recovery, within the ICN and with external stakeholders.
The mandate for growth and recovery is particularly relevant in the current context of post-pandemic economic recovery, in which national governments are defining and implementing strategies with structural impact in the future of their countries.
Margarida Matos Rosa will work together with the ICN’s other Vice Chair, Tembinkosi Bonakele, Commissioner of the South African Competition Commission.
Margarida Matos Rosa replaces Rod Sims, former Chair of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), who was the Vice Chair for Digital Co-ordination and Asia-Pacific Liaison until his term as Chair of the ACCC came to an end in March 2022.
The ICN’s mission is to promote cooperation and convergence for a more efficient application of competition rules worldwide. The ICN brings together more than a hundred competition authorities and non-governmental specialists (lawyers, academics and representatives of international organizations, and trade and consumer associations).
The ICN develops consensus and cooperation platforms that might take the form of good practices recommendations, with a non-binding nature. As an ICN member, the AdC is present in all working groups: advocacy, agency effectiveness, cartels, mergers, and unilateral conduct, also participating in the network’s workshops and conferences.
