AdC launches Competition Policy Award

Press Release 1/2018
18 January 2018

AdC launches Competition Policy Award

In marking its 15th anniversary, the Autoridade da Concorrência - AdC has established an award for academic papers on competition law and economics, in the scope of its mission to promote a competition culture.

The AdC Competition Policy Award will be awarded annually to papers, which have not previously been published in Portugal or abroad, written in Portuguese or English, on topics of competition economics and law in even and odd years respectively. Therefore, the first edition of the award to be granted in 2018 will distinguish a paper on competition economics.

The President of the Board of the AdC, Margarida Matos Rosa, included the establishment of the award in the priorities of the AdC for 2018, and considers that the "contribution of academia is enriching for the mission of the AdC, as it provides innovative and scientifically robust approaches to developing a more competitive economy for the benefit of consumers."

Individuals exercising their activity in Portugal or abroad may apply, and joint authorship will be accepted.
Papers shall be evaluated considering, among other aspects, the contribution to the field of competition policy and their academic quality.

The selection committee of the 2018 edition of the award will be presided over by Margarida Matos Rosa, President of the Board of AdC, and composed of the following competition experts internationally renowned for their standing in the field of competition policy:

Luis Cabral – NYU Stern
Massimo Motta – Barcelona Graduate School of Economics
Pedro Pita Barros – Nova School of Business and Economics
