Ana Sofia Rodrigues was appointed Member of the Board of the Portuguese Competition Authority – AdC in April 2023.
Since October 2015 she was Chief Economist and Head of the AdC's Economic Studies and Market Monitoring Office, after a year as a senior competition expert in the Competition Division of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris.
Before that she held various positions at the Portuguese Competition Authority, where she started her career in Competition Policy in 2006; she was a senior economist at the Merger Department and at the Bureau of Economic Studies and Market Monitoring, and more recently, she was an economic advisor to the Board.
Ana Sofia was the President of ACE – the Association of Competition Economics, an international network of competition economics, from January 2020 to December 2022.
She holds a PhD in Economics from the Department of Economics of the University of York (2008), where she also completed the M.Sc. in Economics in 2002. She was a teaching fellow at the University of York, and she was also a visiting research scholar at the Lebow College of Business, Drexel University, Philadelphia. She did her undergraduate studies in Economics at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (2000).
