“Competition authorities must remain focused on their institutional purpose – promoting competition and consumer welfare. A merger should not be allowed if there are anti-competitive concerns with no countervailing efficiencies accruing to consumers. Allowing other considerations to be factored in competition authorities’ decisions may compromise the objectives of competition policy”, highlighted Margarida Matos Rosa at the Toulouse School of Economics panel discussion on merger control.  Competition policy and the EU Green Deal
 
"Competition is what drives innovation and green is no exception”, stated the President of the AdC, Margarida Matos Rosa, at a conference hosted by the European Commission. The aim was to discuss how EU rules on how competition can be used to support the Green Deal, which aims to bring the bloc’s economy to net-zero emissions by 2050.

Among the AdC’s Competition Policy Priorities for 2021: investigating investigation of signs of abuse and collusion, including in a digital environment, as well as supporting economic recovery by promoting the removal of structural and legal barriers, such as those to professional mobility and to corporate innovation.
