​The I Lisbon Conference, which took place in November of 2005, aimed to fulfil one of the mission objectives of the AdC, which according to its Statutes is to “promote research in the area of competition protection” and to “encourage the implementation of practices that promote competition and help to spread a cultre of competition.”

The Conference addresses the following issues: (i) antitrust enforcement and procedural rules under the modernisation package, (ii) competition, regulatory costs, market imperfections and competitiveness in the European Union, (iii) competition and regulatory costs: the case of Portugal, (iv) the new merger regulation and judicial control, (v) modernisation of article 82 of the EC Treaty and the abuse of dominant position, (vi) competition and regulation.
